The Key to Developing Leg Speed and Power for Enhanced Football Kicking Performance
Mar 5th
Strength and conditioning training compliment the kicking and punting performance by enhancing the skills and techniques that kickers and punters develop. First kickers and punters must develop proper kicking and punting techniques. This is the key to developing leg speed and power. Only then will strength and conditioning training enhance the kicker’s and punter’s performance. Proper weight-lifting techniques must be taught to reduce the risk of injury and maximize the impact of strength training on performance.

Strength and Conditioning Exercises for Kickers and Punters – Introduction
Feb 10th
In football today, highly trained coaches specialize in developing strength and conditioning programs specifically for individual athletes. Although this position-specific specialized training is seen mostly at the professional and college levels, more high school teams are benefiting from this expertise. An increasing number of players are taking the initiative to seek guidance in the private sector as well.
Although this expertise is available, the athlete must continue to work out and train with his team first to develop the basic overall strength that all football players need. Before doing skill-specific exercises or specialized training, athletes need basic technique and strength training. The player must communicate with his coaches about any specialized training outside of the football program. In no way should a player’s specialized training interfere with or be a substitute for training time with teammates.
